Matt FX’s rendition of “A Moment” from Thaïs Sala is unorthodox and fascinating in many ways, thanks to the mood he created along with his intriguing sound design.
Matt FX is a New York-based DJ, producer, and music supervisor with a unique knack for riveting rhythms and magnetic melodies. What initially grabbed my attention about the remix of “A Moment” were the dusty, breakbeat-inspired drums layered with bright, eerie synths. The vocal performance acts as a contrast with their soothing yet emotive charm, and this is complemented by the presence of a mellotron to breathe life into the mix.
“Matt took the original – a swanky rooftop ready reflection of guilt and love lost (expertly produced by Montreal’s Moses Belanger) and turned it into an emotional late night warehouse cut drenched in the fog of rave and layered with icy cold synths and thundering, steely breaks.”
