Machinedrum holds a unique spot in the producer community; seeing his name instantly signals a listening experience that challenges your understanding of music creation.
This week, he returns with the deluxe version of 3FOR82 – a body of work that wholly encapsulates the above sentiment as he can disobey conventionality. One of the bright moments here is the collaboration with Kota the Friend and Joekenneth Museau for “OK!”, a track that tastefully blends the spirit of breakbeat with hip hop and electronica.
Even though the track is adorned with glittery synths and lush pads, the rhythm section shines in the production as we’re acquainted with multiple switch-ups that vacillate from smooth to rough and raw. I can’t neglect to mention Kota’s slick flows, which glide effortlessly over the beat, adding layers of rhythm and texture that deepen the track’s dynamic appeal.
