This is for the fans of that classic West Coast boom-bap sound.
Some might say this aesthetic is going away but beatmaker & production teacher Low Heat is keeping it alive with his signature synth-heavy but smooth sound. Today, he released his new EP Don’t Look Back – a collection of 7 songs aiming to remind us to not dwell on the past too much & look forward instead.
He elaborates, “Despite the time wasted, the mistakes and the things we’ve lost in our past, there is no point in looking back and regretting. Sometimes, we realize that we should have changed our direction a long time ago, but if we didn’t then, the best time is now and that will determine how we feel and where we will be tomorrow. All in all, the EP is about being positive and not beating ourselves up about things from the past that we have no control over, but focus on what we can change now.“
The closing tune “Back To Basics” is one of my favorites from the record, with its mesmerizing synths & flutes on top of classic boom-bap beats.
