Earlier this month, Kidnap unveiled his sophomore album Something Lost, Something Gained and it features the gem “Starling” – one of the most emotionally captivating tracks you’ll find this week.
Even though he is only 33, the UK-based musician and producer is already something of an industry veteran as he’s had a luminous career since 2012. The experimental production outfit Dwara appears on two tracks in the album with “Starling” serving as the more ethereal experience. Pianos arrangements, lush soundscapes, and bright bells flesh out the melodic portion while shuffling, breakbeat-inspired drums adorn the rhythm section. The arrival of the reverb-coated vocals stands as one of the most seminal moments of the track, adding an ethereal layer that elevates the emotional depth and atmosphere.
