Every track on Flyo’s new EP Spirit Box exudes warmth and soul, delivering an experience that’s deeply emotional and immersive.
At this point, the L.A.-based artist Flying Lotus is a living legend thanks to his mass contributions to the culture. Spirit Box sees him veer toward an interesting direction where he creates a dark yet soulful charm that lingers across the project. One of the brightest gems however is “Let Me Cook” with Dawn Richard, and here Flyo flaunts his prowess in the realm of r&b. Dawn’s vocals are charismatic and soulful, while the instrumental is decorated with glittery pianos and radiant lead synths for a slightly psychedelic allure. I can’t neglect to mention the vibrant rhythm section thanks to the wonderful percussive embellishments.
