Our colleague Lu is the one who found Carrie Baxter back in 2019 (with her “Lady“) but I turned into a fan immediately. The Irish singer/songwriter has some of the most beautiful & warm vocals out there. And you’ll find out what I’m talking about in her new release Keep Swimming EP.
After a burnout in 2022, Carrie is back in 2024 with the 4-track project exploring her vulnerabilities & her evolution as a songwriter. The focus single “In The Morning” is a tribute to one of her idols & main influences – Erykah Badu. “The song is about meeting someone that you connect with instantly… that connection of energy that you feel maybe you’ve known before without explanation.”
“In The Morning” drips with soulful melodies, impeccable groove & alluring playfulness. “I needed the sound to ignite a certain amount of sexiness but also be super chilled at the same time,” she adds. “Once we got the chords right, everything else flowed effortlessly.”
