Amtrac’s latest release “Where We Belong” is a listening experience that oscillates between groovy and pleasantly atmospheric thanks to it’s lush, textural soundscape.
What I love most about Amtrac’s evolution over the years is that no matter how much his sound shifts, his unmistakable signature touch always shines through. This is apparent on this release, and what gives it away is definitely the drums – they remind me of his rendition of “Hide” from Washed Out. The rhythm section on “Where We Belong” along with the bass line creates this fun bounce. This is further fleshed out by rich, immersive synth works that eventually offer cinematic touch to the experience. I can’t neglect to mention how the emotive vocals soar above the mix, adding depth and a human warmth throughout the experience.
