I was delighted to discover Karun through our New Music Finds playlist last Friday. “Hold Me” is the third track of her EP Eternal, which is now fully out on all streaming platforms and ready to be heard.
Karungari Munga, performing under the artist name Karun, is an R&B, Neo-soul, afropop, and afro-soul artist from Kenya. She has been around for a while, but her new EP marks the beginning of what she calls ‘a new era’ – one of authenticity, self-awareness, and spirituality.
I was personally captivated from the start. Impressive and emotional vocals, effortless riffs, amazing synths, and great production overall. And did you notice the sound of the birds throughout the song?
If you were a fan of Hold Me, I’d recommend listening to the rest of the EP. I’d also definitely be curious to explore Karun’s previous eras.
