It’s really the contrasting elements that make QRTR’s release “Self-Sabotage” quite a fascinating listening experience – the drums are raw and erratic while the melodic textures are soft and velvet-smooth.
For nearly a decade, QRTR has championed underground electronic music with her forward-thinking production and her eclectic DJ sets. Last week, she unveiled her brand new album ONDAS with “Self-Sabotage” being one of the stand out tracks. Here, she heavily borrows from breakbeat, creating a rhythm section that’s hard-hitting and littered with suprises. Hovering over the eccentric drums are her incredibly soothing vocals that pour warmth and depth into the experience while we’re immersed by the dreamy soundscapes.
