From pop to ambient to soul, Niia has continuously reinvented both herself and her sound – and on her new album V, she presents a captivating exploration of nu jazz.
One of my favorite tracks of ALL TIME is Niia’s “Deeper Than Goodbye” from her ambient-leaning album OFFAIR, and that served as my gateway into her world. V is like another continent in her world where studio imagination and electronic textures of experimental pop interplay with jazz-rooted musicianship. “Ronny Cammareri” is one of the stand out moments of the record, offering a sonic journey adorned with dreamy keys, vibrant percussion, and a brass section that’s rich with warmth and soulful charm. As the track stretches towards the second half, it takes on a bold, daring direction and eventually soothes listeners thanks to the glossy arrangement of the pianos. If you enjoyed this, I would highly suggest diving into the full album.
