Luke Titus has just unveiled his latest album, From What Was Will Grow A Flower. On it, he offers a unique perspective on jazz, with an emotive undercurrent that feels both experimental and deeply personal.
Born and raised in Chicago, the talented Luke Titus is a drummer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. The track “Lotus Leaf” featuring Hubie and Nicole McCabe serves as my introduction to his work, and the first thing that stands out is the drums. They’re fast and flowing with momentum as opposed to the calming arrangement of the keys and the delicate synth works. This is coupled with a brass section that offers a soulful allure with it’s presence, especially when underpinned by the bass line.
