Acclaimed musicians Illa J and Ash Walker have joined forces under the moniker Jaywalk and The Cadillacs, fusing soul, hip-hop, and jazz into a sound that feels both fresh and timeless.

We’ve been covering the work of former Slum Village member Illa J and Londoner Ash Walker for years now. Their collaboration on “In Love” sounds exactly like their signature styles combined together as they shower us with nostalgia with their soulquarians-reminicent sound. The keys are dreamy, and the vocals are as gentle as silk over the slick rhythm section. Given both their talents as producers, I loved how the instrumental takes on a minimalist stature, allowing the stellar vocal performance to take center stage to emphasize the track’s soulful allure.
