On their latest release “Mo’thaneva”, MDQ and Michael Kirby showcase their synergy through an elegant blend of soul, jazz, and hip-hop.
The NY-based songwriter, producer, and guitarist MDQ is a genre-fluid artist heavily influenced by a variety of genres like bossa nova, neo-soul, house, and lofi hip hop. “Mo’thaneva” channels these influences and offers the perfect canvas for Michael Kirby to spill his thoughts onto. We already know Michael Kirby is an incredible lyricist, on here however he exhibits that his talents stretch beyond rapping as he can also be found singing in the verses. I also loved how he regularly switches his flows to keep the progression lively and full of surprises.
